OSHKOSH — A dog that survived a train vs. car crash that killed two Oshkosh women is suffering from a broken pelvis and needs surgery, according to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
Elsa, a 1-year-old mixed-breed dog, was found the day after the crash, which killed 37-year-old Emily Mueller and 43-year-old Jessica Roby Friday night on the east side of Oshkosh.
“The cost of the surgery is estimated to be $4,500- $5,000 and if she gets the surgery the veterinarian said there’s no reason she can’t have a full, happy life,” Oshkosh Area Humane Society Executive Director Joni Geiger said in a news release.
The organization is now collecting donations to help fund the surgery for Elsa. An anonymous donor has offered to match up to $1,500.
Donations can be made at the humane society’s website or mailed to: Oshkosh Area Humane Society, 1925 Shelter Court, Oshkosh, Wis. 54901.
