RIB MOUNTAIN — A Rib Mountain fast food restaurant is temporarily closed as workers address frozen water pipes at the business.

Panda Express, 4400 Rib Mountain Drive, will reopen as quickly as possible, restaurant employees say. The casual-dining Chinese restaurant opened in December 2014 at the site of a former Wendy’s that was destroyed by fire.

Frozen water pipes are a common problem when temperatures plunge below zero. Wicked winter weather can cause pipes to freeze, then burst, causing flooding and costly water damage to homes and businesses.

Experts say when the weather is very cold outside, running water through the pipe – even at a trickle – helps prevent pipes from freezing.
