TOWN OF BRADLEY — One man was injured and one driver was cited for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated in two separate crashes on the same trail in the town of Bradley, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

Both crashes happened late Friday on the Hiawatha Trail at Heafford Road.

The first driver, a 23-year-old Tomahawk man, told police he was driving too fast when he missed a stop sign and crashed into a group of trees. The man lay injured in the snow for about 30 minutes before a second crash happened at the same location.

In the second crash, a 79-year-old Cape Coral, Fla. man also went through the stop sign, police said. People who came to assist the second rider discovered the 23-year-old injured man and called 911.

The 79-year-old man was not injured but was cited for operating while intoxicated, police said.

The 23-year-old man was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Deputies said the trail is properly marked, but excessive speed and driver error led to the crashes, according to the report. No names were released.
