UPDATE 4:25 p.m. — A man and a woman are dead after an early morning shooting in Abbotsford, and the victims knew the shooter, police confirmed Saturday.

A third victim, whose gender was not released, was injured but is expected to recover.

The shooter, a man, is expected to face homicide charges Monday in Marathon County Circuit Court. He is being held in the Marathon County Jail. Police say there are witnesses to the shooting who are being interviewed.

No names or additional information were immediately released.

ABBOTSFORD — One person is in custody in connection with a triple shooting early Saturday in Abbotsford that left two people dead and a third person injured, police confirmed this morning.

Police were called at 3:02 a.m. to a home at 406 E. Maple Street in Abbotsford for a report of a shooting, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers found one injured victim who was transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. Two deceased victims were found in the residence by officers, police said.

The lone suspect was apprehended near the crime scene and is in custody at the Marathon County Jail. The scene was then secured.

The names of the victims are being withheld until family members are notified. A news conference is set for Saturday afternoon at the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department.

Police have not yet released the name of the suspect, who is being held in the Marathon County Jail. Additional details are expected this afternoon.

The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division are conducting the investigation. They are assisted by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, State Patrol’s reconstruction team, Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
