WAUSAU — A 69-year-old Rhinelander man is facing criminal charges after he was allegedly caught peeping at a naked customer while she tanned in his salon.

David Meinnert was arrested Jan. 18 after a Sunburst Tanning customer told police she caught the man peering over the top of a 10-foot high dividing wall while she lay naked in the tanning bed below, according to a WJFW report.

When confronted by the customer, Meinnert reportedly said he’s “just an old pervert.”

Later, Meinnert told police he saw the woman by mistake. But detectives said Meinnert would have had to grab the 10-foot high wall and lift his body off a nearby tanning bed to see over the top

He now faces misdemeanor invasion of privacy charges in Oneida County Circuit Court.

Meinnert is free on a $5,000 signature bond. He is prohibited from entering his tanning salon or any place with public locker rooms. A status conference is set for Feb.y 19.
