Penny Lee Berger Schoeneck
Penny Lee Schoeneck, 67, Wausau, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2018 with her loving husband by her side.
Penny was born August 30, 1950 in Mattoon to Patricia (Janssen) and the late Lawrence Berger. She met Rick Schoeneck and the couple were married on March 22, 1975 in Mattoon. The couple was blessed with two sons: Dylan and Brett. Penny began working in the sales department with Wausau Insurance in 1968 and eventually retired from the call center at Connexus Credit Union in 2014. While her sons were growing up she also worked part time with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church as the church secretary and Hardees. In retirement, she became very active with Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the fellowship of the quilting group and evenings with the MOTL Girls Night Out events. The members of the church were truly her second family.
Penny was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who selflessly thought of others first at all times. She loved the little things in life; hugs, heartfelt “I Love You’s”, and spending time with her family. Over the years, many trips were made as a family or together with Rick on the back of his Harley seeing Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Canada, and the eastern US’s Blue Ridge Mountain Trail. For the past 10 years, Penny enjoyed spending time at the family cabin near Rhinelander. She was also an avid reader and loved to dance with Rick throughout her life.
Penny is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Rick; sons, Dylan (Krista) and Brett (Kari); granddaughters, Tenley and Kenedi; mother and step-father, Patricia and Edwin Marten; brothers, Kim (Judy) Berger and Randy (Kyle) Berger; sister, Kerri (Claude) Johann; half-brothers, Kirt (Tracie) Marten and Kevin (Karen) Marten; mother-in-law, Eileen Schoeneck; brother-in-laws, Ron (Kathy) Schoeneck, Bill (Candy) Schoeneck; sister-in-law, Sharon (Tim) Chapman; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Berger and father-in-law, Rudolph Schoeneck.
The memorial service for Penny will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. Pastor Andrew Buschkopf will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. A private family burial will take place at Mattoon Woodlawn Cemetery. Kenneth Rajek
Kenneth Rajek, 68, Rothschild, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born July 14, 1949 in Wausau, son of Angeline (Lang) Rajek of Marathon and the late Raymond Rajek. On May 5, 1990, he married Mary (O’Connor) Dunaway at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. She survives.
Ken was a 1967 graduate of Newman High School and furthered his education at North Central Technical College where he completed the Marketing Program in 1969. Throughout his life, he worked in marketing and sales for Wausau Homes, the Journal Sentinel, WRIG, was manager for Seehafer Broadcasting and retired from WSAW radio in January of 2013.
For 22 years, Ken was a member of the Army National Guard in the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team and served as 1st Sergeant with the 132nd Tank Batallion. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Department of Wisconsin, past member of the Wausau Noon Optimist Club, past member of Junior Achievement and member of the Wisconsin Valley Woodturners.
In his younger years, Ken enjoyed deer hunting and most recently, his hobbies included woodworking, fishing and watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Ken was a “Grill Master” and enjoyed watching cooking shows, experimenting with recipes from different restaurants and going out for a Friday night fish fry.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 27 years, Mary Rajek, Wausau, his mother, Angeline Rajek, Marathon; two children, Wesley Rajek, Wausau and Lindsey (Eric) Payne, Missouri and their children Jack and Sophia; three step-children, Maureen Dunaway, Minnesota and her daughter, Aileen Nadeau, Brent (Nga) Dunaway, Minnestota and their children, Tu Linh Kieu and Nghia Linh Kieu, and Heather Dunaway, Oregon; five siblings, Bob (Louise) Rajek, Wausau, David (Mary) Rajek, Marathon, Susan Robl, West Bend, Sally Rajek, Marathon and Mike Rajek, Weston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lisa Rajek, Wausau, Dennis (Pam) O’Connor, Maribel, Wis., Kathleen (Heidi) O’Connor, Washington, Elizabeth (Al) Burt, Virginia and Connie (John) O’Connor, Manitowoc; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Rajek; and brother-in-law, Ken Robl.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will preside. Full military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Lyal Turben Borgen, 87, was called home to God January 24, 2018. He was born August 27, 1930 to Turben and Alma (Anderson) Borgen at their home in Amherst, WI. Lyal grew up on that same farm where his love of the land and farming was cultivated. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1948. On December 12, 1959, Lyal married the love of his life, Suzanne Obermeyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. They were married for 58 wonderful years. In his youth, Lyal loved hunting, bowling, and baseball. He farmed all his life, first with his dad and family, then with his brother Richard, and later with his sons. He loved working with animals and cultivating the soil in the area where he grew up. Lyal was a family man in every sense of the word and enjoyed having his family around. He especially loved visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lyal was preceded in death by his parents Turben and Alma Borgen; brothers Gerald and Howard; and sister Ruth.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne; children Lowell (Marla) Borgen, Jeanne Borgen, Neal (Kim) Borgen, Linda (Keith) Natschke, Tuben (Pam Berry) Borgen, and Alma (Rick) Stuebs; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Wade Jacobs
Wade Winfred Jacobs, 91, Wausau went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Wade was born on December 8, 1926 in Durham, NC to the late William B. and Eunice E. (Adams) Jacobs. He faithfully served his country during WWII enlisting in the US Navy on January 8, 1944 and separating at the rank of Seaman 2nd Class on April 3, 1946. Wade married Lois Mae Kroening on October 29, 1948 and the couple was blessed with five children: Sandra, Wade, Debra, Wanda and Juanita. He worked very hard to support his growing family, putting in long hours at Wausau Paper Mill as a maintenance mechanic. During this time Wade also found several side jobs helping family, friends and neighbors. Lois and Wade also opened their home to many people with hearing impairments, sharing God’s love through sign language. After 61 years together, Lois went home to be with her Lord on December 22, 2009. Wade found love once more when he married his longtime friend from church, Wretha Anderson on July 16, 2011.
Wade was a well-loved, determined, hardworking man with a very strong sense of character. When he gave you his word, it was his bond. Wade was a self-taught mechanic, carpenter and builder. He was very proud of the home he had built, but quickly started adding to it by raising the house up and digging a basement by hand, and then adding several additions over the years. Wade was also well known for his tremendous sense of humor and ability to tell jokes and play practical jokes. Following his retirement, Wade did not slow down. Instead he shifted his energy into volunteering in the construction of Immanuel Baptist Church and serving his fellow parishioners. In his free time, Wade enjoyed working on wood crafts and making canes (which he gave to anyone who needed them) and figuring out metal puzzles.
Wade is survived by his wife of 6 years, Wretha; children, Sandra Jacobs of Wausau, Wade (Jacqueline) Jacobs of Houston, TX, Debra (Roger) Moll of Clearwater, FL, Wanda Jacobs of Wausau and Juanita (Richard) Levandowski of Independence; Wretha’s children, Joel (Shelia) Mork and Lonnie (Vicki) Mork; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Hayward (Shirley) Jacobs and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
The funeral service for Wade will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Rib Mountain. Rev. Roger Davis will officiate. The visitation will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; resuming on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. TONY LEON GLOVER, 78 years, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 surrounded by family at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau WI, after a short bout with cancer. Since one of Tony’s greatest pleasures was telling stories, it’s only fitting to share his tale.
Tony was born on April 21, 1939 in Pine River, MN. In his youth, the family moved between the homesteaded farm in MN and the state of Washington. As a young man, he worked for the railroad and ranchers in Washington. At age 17, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army and was soon sent to Korea, where he served about 15 months. Upon returning home, he was stationed in Fort Sheridan, IL. It was at this time that he met his wife, Karen K. Kerneen. On September 12, 1959, they were united in marriage and enjoyed their love affair for 58 great years. He was employed with Giddings & Lewis, Utility Tool & Body Co., and Drott Manufacturing (which later became J. I. Case Co.) After nine years of working for other companies, 1968 was the birth of Glover’s Manufacturing Inc. in Wittenberg WI. The company has been in business since then, but is now operated by his three sons.
Tony was a man of many talents and interests. He was a cowboy, rodeo rider, and chased many wild mustangs – and had great stories to tell about his adventures. On the tamer side, he was an inventor, having three patents in his name. His knack for designing was kind of unique, as he could build almost anything…but everything was in his mind and never on paper! He was a builder with three houses under his belt – the last being his log home dream house – also with no blueprints! It was here that he also decided that raising elk would give him a lot of enjoyment and add a little “class” to the place. He loved going to auctions and was especially interested in the Winchester and Colt guns. Tony was an avid sportsman in his younger days doing trapping, hunting, and fishing. But his big passion in the later years was the 103 acres of land in the Garnet Mountains of Montana. He not only loved the land, but also the prospecting for gold.
Tony’s biggest love was his family…they were his pride and joy. He was blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He always enjoyed teaching them about his many interests, the outdoors, and taking them out to the Montana land for vacations.
Tony is survived by his wife, Karen; three sons, Michael (special person, Lisa Hirt), Ronald (Sharon), and Timothy (Cheri); grandchildren, Crystal (Ryan) Holder, Kelly (Marcus) Lorge, Courtney Glover, and Dillion Glover; step granddaughter, Krystal Hickey; great-grandchildren, Ian and Ella Holder; and step great-grandchildren, Leah Thorson, Emiley, Sophia, Mckaila, and Karter Hickey; sister, Ethel; sister-in-laws, Janet Glover, Mary Lee Glover, and Linda Kerneen; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Myrtle Glover; brothers, Richard (Bessie), Warren, Charlie (Mary), Lloyd, and Dale Glover; sisters, Hazel (Ben), Lela (Otto), Virginia (James), Marmian, and Zella (Jerome); daughter-in-law, Carolina Glover; granddaughter, Jessica Glover; parents-in-law, Earl and Lillian Kerneen; and brother-in-law, David Kerneen.
Tony left a lasting mark with his stories, his friends, and of course, his family, and he will be dearly missed.
