Benedict T. Stubinski
Benedict T. Stubinski, 74, Saco, ME, formerly of the town of Marathon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, in Scarborough.
He was born July 23, 1943, in Wausau, son of the late Benedict A. and Elizabeth (Punke) Stubinski. He is a 1961 graduate of Marathon High School. He married Marsha Van Schoyck on June 1, 1963.
Ski served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He sailed on many ships including the USS Fortify, USS Execel, USS Exploit and the USS Killauea. While serving in the Navy, Ben earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal, three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.
In 1979, he and his family moved to Saco where he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Portland. He retired after 30 years as a maintenance supervisor.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, stock car racing and RVing. He enjoyed sharing his adventures with family and friends.
The family will cherish these memories forever. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; four sons, James (Jocelyn) Stubinski, Scott Stubinski, Lance Stubinski and Derik (Sara) Stubinski; five grandchildren, Alissa, Ryan, Kyle, Logan and Brady; three sisters, Janice (Harry) Matis, Mosinee,
Suzanne (Ron) Dirks, Wausau, and Carrie (Ben) Zelazoski, Antigo; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m Saturday, Feb. 3, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Kong Meng Xiong
Kong Meng Xiong, 22, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
Kong was born in Green Bay on December 20, 1995 to the late Pao and Sia (Vang) Xiong.
Kong was proud to be an active serviceman in the Army National Guard. He was full of life and found great happiness in rapping, spending time with his nieces and nephews, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.
Kong is survived by his brothers and sisters, Tou Xiong, Lily Xiong, Charity (Robert Yang) Xiong, Vang Shoua Xiong, PhaNhia (Andrew) Van Pietersom, Jenny Xiong, Joey Xiong and Bee Xiong. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Brainard Funeral Home-Wausau Chapel, 522 Adam Street, Wausau. Services will be performed by Major Ron and Major Carol Lemirand. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be given.
Zachary Thomas Schubring of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 30, 2018.
Zak had a real love for aircraft and flying, and he especially loved his country. As a National Guard veteran, he maintained helicopters. Zak was employed by CWA as an aircraft mechanic since graduating from Blackhawk Tech in 2012. Zak proposed to his beloved wife, Anita, by flying her over a field in which he had painstakingly spelled out “MARRY ME’ with over 2,000 blaze orange clay pigeons. Zak’s interests included hunting, fishing, martial arts, and motorcycles. But, his greatest loves are his relationship with his beloved Anita and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He fell in love with Jesus and was radically changed on the inside when he was baptized in the Holy Spirit in the fall of 2016. We are eternally grateful and we will see him again. Death where is your victory, death where is your sting? Even in his death, seeming defeat is turned to victory.
Zak is survived by wife Anita, parents Tom and Darla Schubring, brothers Nicholas and Mark (Sami Jo), in-laws Darren and Elissa Walker, brothers-in-law Caleb and Brandon (Christin) Walker, grandparents Ronald and Frances Sigrist, Norma Atwood, and Darrell and Mary Walker and was preceded in death by Donald and Joyce Schubring.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the New Glarus Bible Church, 207 6th Street, New Glarus WI. Visitation will be 10 a.m. -12 and Memorial Service at noon. Brainard Funeral Home – Wausau Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Clarence Brzezinski
Clarence Brzezinski, 91 of Weston, passed away on January 31, 2018, with his loving family by his side.
Clarence was born to the late Peter and Mary (Wilkowski) Brzezinski on June 19, 1926. He married the love of his life, Helen Pochinski, on October 22, 1949. They raised four children and shared 63 years of marriage. Helen preceded Clarence in death in 2013.
Clarence started his career at Drott as a welder and ended it as weld inspector. He was a man of great faith and a true family man, valuing time spent with his children and grandchildren as well as his friends and neighbors. He would help his children out with anything, especially babysitting all nine of his grandchildren. Clarence loved gardening and could grow anything. He also loved picking berries and mushrooms in the wild. He loved his garden along with fly-fishing and ice fishing for bluegills and hunting.
Clarence is survived by his children; Ralph (Sue) Brzezinski, Roger (Diane) Brzezinski, Tim (Jane) Brzezinski and Mary (Tony) Hart. He is further survived by his nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his brothers; Ray (Gracie) Brzezinski and Myron (Lolly) Brzezinski. Clarence was preceded in death by wife, Helen, and his brothers; Edward, Joseph, Ted, Floyd, and Daniel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 113 West Kort Street, Rothschild. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Clarence “Rusty” Balz
Rusty served his country in the United States Army serving as Military police in Egypt during World War II, being discharged as a Corporal.
He worked as a mechanic for the Athens Co-Op, drove school bus in Athens for 54 years, was a bouncer at both Schmidt’s Ballroom and Prochnow’s Ballroom and held several other jobs throughout the years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrew J. Sutter Post No. 8527, Athens, American Legion Chapman-Belter Post No. 4, Athens, was a Boy Scout Leader and was on the board of trustees at the Athens Credit Union for many years.
Hunting with his brothers and nephews and fishing on the Willow Flowage with relatives were things he enjoyed. He also enjoyed restoring old machinery especially John Deere tractors. He was president of the Athens Old Timers Band, loved listening to Polka music and playing tuba with various musicians.
Survivors include his children, William (Deborah) Balz, Athens, Ruth (John) Weiler, Athens, Jean Balz, Athens, Terry (Cindy) Balz, Marathon, Fritz (Karen) Balz, Athens and Susan Miller, O’Fallon, IL; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-granddaughter; brother, Arlon (Darlene) Balz, Phillips; sister-in-law, Lois Balz, Athens, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Rev. Teri Hanson will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted after the service by the VFW and American Legion, Athens. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Athens funeral home.

Alfred L. Hoppe, Jr. passed away on January 29, 2018 at the Hospice House in Wausau surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 4, 1953 to Alfred, Sr. and Audrey (Laffin) Hoppe. He enjoyed his trips to Colorado Elk hunting and visiting the mountain they named “Baldy,” with his brothers and friends. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his sons and the Seekers Brothers. Al could fix almost anything that was one of his natural talents and he enjoyed passing this down to his children. Another one of his favorite pass times was riding horses and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Brodjieski) Hoppe, children Shane (Jennie) Hoppe, Luke (Marijean) Hoppe, and Tara Hoppe, mother Audrey Hoppe, brothers Andrew (Mary) Hoppe, Arthur (Karen) Hoppe, Arlin (Robyn) Hoppe, seven grandchildren Grace, Emily, Katie, Lynmarie, Evalyn, Colton and Riyah.
He is preceded in death by his father Alfred, Sr. grandparents August and Lena Hoppe and Arthur and Dorothy Laffin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 3, 2018 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH E7195 Star Rd, Aniwa, WI 54408. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Fehrmann officiating.
