Ryan Hempel led the way Friday Night with a hat trick as the Wausau RiverWolves defeated the Evansville Thunderbolts by a score of 8-4.

Matt Irwin also had a big night with 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists), while scoring his 30th goal on the season.

The Wausau RiverWolves took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Ryan Hempel. Sean Johnston delivered with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Michael Alfonso added 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first, Alfonso opened the scoring for Wausau with a goal at 2:38 with helpers from his linemates, Irwin and Hempel. Hannebrink answered for the Thunderbolts with a goal at 7:16. Hempel answered for the RiverWolves with a goal at 11:54 with assists from teammates Pinkert and Irwin.

During the second, Alton put in a goal at 2:18 with helpers from his linemates, Hempel and Irwin. Johnston scored a goal at 9:46 with assists from Rukamp and Renter. Hempel deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:38 with helpers, Rukamp and Johnston. Kowalski answered for Evansville with a goal at 16:35 with assists from Rowe and Scott. Irwin answered for Wausau with a goal at 19:05, his 30th on the season.

In the third, Hempel netted a hat trick with his third goal of the game at 2:46. Ben Brown scored a goal at 14:49 to cap off the scoring.
