TOWN OF WAUSAU — Fire crews from at least two area departments are at the scene of a house fire in the town of Wausau that broke out early Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at 5906 Mathie Road, a home off Hwy. 52 northeast of the city of Wausau.

A Wausau Pilot and Review reporter at the scene reported seeing smoke billow from the home while fire crews sawed holes in the roof.

Town of Easton firefighters were first on scene, while town of Hewitt crews provided man power and water tanker support. Town of Wausau and town of Texas also responded, along with representatives from the American Red Cross.

There’s no word yet on injuries or how the blaze began.
