WAUSAU — The results of the race to represent the 18th District of the Marathon County Board of Supervisors remained the same Friday, after one candidate requested a recount.

Marathon County Clerk Nan Kotke said the vote tally on Friday were exactly the same as calculated the night of the April 3 election. That means incumbent Craig McEwen will hold onto his seat after defeating challenger Corrie Norrbom by just two votes.

McEwen received 456 votes, while Norrbom received 454. Two write-in votes were also recorded.

Norrbom submitted a request Tuesday to the canvassing committee, a move that is allowed under state law because the vote is within a 1 percent margin.

The new board will be sworn in on Thursday, April 19.
