Wausau, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Marathon County will welcome the vocal jazz group Groove for Thought to the James F. Veninga Theater on April 27 at 7 p.m. They will be the featured clinicians and performers for the 5th annual UWMC Vocal Jazz Festival.

Groove for Thought, a Seattle-based group, performs jazz-influenced arrangements of both standard and original tunes, earning them the reputation as one of the finest contemporary vocal ensembles in the world. They earned national attention when they competed on the NBC reality show The Sing Off, in 2010.  They were also the featured performers at UWMC’s Vocal Jazz Festival in 2015.

The concert will be the capstone event of the two-day Vocal Jazz Festival. Groove for Thought  will spend Thursday, April 26 working with UWMC choir students. On Friday, April 27, they will conduct vocal clinics for ten visiting high school and college-level choirs from throughout the state.

The UWMC Vocal Jazz Ensemble will open the concert on the 27th.

General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased at tiny.cc/uwmctickets. Remaining tickets will be sold at the UW Center for Civic Engagement box office starting at 6:15 p.m. the day of the show until sold out. UWMC students may attend for free.
