WAUSAU — The Wisconsin Woodchucks and the Northwoods League Foundation have announced Medford City Baseball as the recipient of the Share the Glove Softball Equipment Grant.

Medford City Baseball will be awarded with softball equipment totaling $2,500, according to a Woodchucks news release. The award includes two sets of catcher’s gear, 10 gloves, eight batting helmets, six bats and one bucket of practice balls.

“We are very excited and fortunate to receive this equipment grant from this program,” said Justin Hraby, of Medford City Baseball. “The Woodchucks are great supporters of ours and a big thanks goes out to them!”

The Northwoods League Foundation is celebrating the 25th season of the Northwoods League in 2018 by donating $50,000 in youth Rawlings equipment through 20 grants, one in each Northwoods League community, according to the news release.

Woodchucks owner Mark Macdonald believes youth sports are important to children’s development and teaches sportsmanship, honesty, fair play, empathy and humility.
