WAUSAU — The Wausau River District has hired a Wausau resident as its new assistant director.

Tiffany Lee has served as the organization’s social media volunteer and was offered a more advanced role in the organization in early May. She started her new position on May 14.

Lee brings with her a bachelor’s degree in marketing and she is working on her master’s degree in communications, according to a Wausau River District news release. Previously, Lee has worked for Northcentral Technical College, Rasmussen College and Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes.

Lee’s hire brings the Wausau River District back up to two year-round staff members, after the former assistant director accepted an offer to serve as the executive director in April, according to the release.

“Tiffany is an ideal hire for the position because of her background in marketing and community engagement, as well as her passion for downtown,” said Blake Opal-Wahoske, the district’s executive director.

Wausau River District’s mission is to promote and facilitate the economic vitality and historic preservation of
downtown Wausau. It encompasses more than 250 businesses, spanning about 34 blocks on the east and west sides of the Wisconsin River.
