WESTON — Village of Weston Administrator Dan Guild is suspended for 30 working days without pay for breaching his employment contract, officials said Thursday.

The closed session meeting Thursday, requested by newly elected Trustees Wally Sparks and Mark Maloney, lasted more than two hours. The board then went into open session to vote on the suspension, which was approved by a vote of 6-1.

In a phone call late Monday, Sparks, the former Everest Metro Police chief, told Wausau Pilot and Review he has significant concerns related to the administrator’s position, but could not be more specific prior to Thursday’s meeting.

Guild has been village administrator since May 2012. Prior to his tenure in Weston, he spent nearly three years as administrator in Poynette, Wis. He will be suspended through July 9, while the board of trustees will create an amended employment agreement that Guild will be required to follow or risk termination.

Yee Leng Xiong was the sole trustee to vote against the action.
