TOWN OF WOODBORO — A 55-year-old Illinois man is facing felony charges after a high speed chase early Thursday in Lincoln County that ended in a rollover crash, according to police.

In a weekly roundup of notable police activity released Monday by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, officials stated a deputy who was traveling on Hwy. 51 just after midnight Thursday morning spotted the speeding driver, who was allegedly traveling in excess of 100 mph near CTH S.

The deputy pursued the driver north on Hwy. 51 but stopped after the vehicle exited at Hwy. 8 and was no longer in sight. A short time later, an Oneida County deputy came across the vehicle, which had rolled off the roadway on Hwy. 8 near CTH N in the town of Woodboro.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was transported by Oneida Co. EMS to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital, where he was treated and released. The man was cited for operating while intoxicated and faces felony charges of knowingly fleeing an officer.
