GLEASON — A 16-year-old Rhinelander boy will face felony fleeing charges after a high speed chase Friday evening, according to police.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was allegedly traveling at speeds topping 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on Hwy. 17 north of Gleason when a deputy on patrol attempted to stop the vehicle. The boy refused to stop and instead accelerated before turning town a town road and onto a town road and fleeing the vehicle, police said.

Deputies later discovered the suspect hiding in the woods.

The driver will be cited for speeding and referred on felony charges of fleeing an officer. The boy and his 14-year-old passenger were released to their parents.
