TOWN OF BRADLEY — An 86-year-old woman was found dead Thursday among the remains of a house fire in Lincoln County, sheriff’s officials said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 12:14 p.m. on Thursday about a possible structure fire in the town of Bradley, south and west of Tomahawk.

Paramedics from Tomahawk EMS, Tomahawk Firefighters and Deputies responded to the scene on Robin Lane and discovered that a fire had started inside of the home — possibly during the previous 24 hours — and had extinguished itself.

The victim was found dead inside the home and was the only occupant, police said. The blaze was discovered when a family member came to check on the woman.

The Lincoln County Coroner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal have joined the Sheriff’s Office and Tomahawk Fire Department in conducting the investigation. The cause of the fire and cause of death remain under investigation but no foul play is suspected.

A name will be released when the family has been notified.
