TOWN OF JUMP RIVER — Police say high speeds and alcohol contributed to a fatal crash Monday in the Taylor County town of Jump River. The crash was reported just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of CTH MM and Copper Drive.

A witness told police he saw a vehicle northbound on CTH MM traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver missed a hairpin curve near Copper Drive. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a large piece of logging equipment before catching fire, according to the witness report.

Police have identified the driver as William Juneau, 49, of Gilman. Gilman, along with his 51-year-old passenger, Sandra Haff of Thorp, died at the scene. A passenger in the back seat of the vehicle, 28-year-old Tyler Flores of Kenosha, was pulled from the vehicle and airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
