TOWN OF MINERAL POINT— Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin say the death of a 13-year-old girl is suspicious.

According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was found in the Town of Mineral Point. The teen died May 31.

The property where the girl’s body was discovered includes two homes and several buildings, and is fronted by a sign calling the complex Prairie Station.

Iowa County records show the property is owned by a limited liability corporation. The LLC’s registered agent, Madison attorney Peter Garson, declined to comment on how the property is being used and who lives there. Tax bills for the property go to a Waunakee address, but the registered agent for the LLC connected to that address could not be reached.

Mineral Point School officials confirmed the victim’s property is within the district’s attendance boundary, but the teen did not attend school in the district.

Police say they have ruled out child sex trafficking as a factor. The teen’s name has not been released.
