TOWN OF KING — A 51-year-old Merrill man is dead following a motorcycle crash Saturday in the town of King, officials said.

The crash, reported at 5:55 p.m., happened on CTH D at Sunny Point Road east of Tomahawk, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

The preliminary investigation showed that the motorcycle operator was traveling with a group west on CTH D when his cycle left the road and struck a culvert ejecting the operator, police said.

Bystanders and a deputy performed CPR but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln County Coroner. The man was not wearing a helmet. Lincoln County officials suspect alcohol played a role in the crash, according to a news release.

Tomahawk EMS and the Tomahawk Fire Department assisted on the scene.

This is the second fatal motor vehicle crash in Lincoln County this year.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
