WAUSAU — The Marathon County Historical Society invites upper-elementary and middle school-age children to register for Kids History Day.

This free, fun activity day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug.16, at the Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau.

Children ages 8 and older can explore what life was like in the early days of farming. Activities will be related to the Historical Society’s newest exhibit, “Milking Time: Evolution of the Dairy Industry in Marathon County,” opening in June. Children will be able to handle artifacts, make and taste dairy products, and participate in related activities that take them deeper into farm history.

There is no registration fee. Participants are asked to bring their own bag lunch. Milk, lemonade, water and a snack will be provided.

For more information or to register your child(ren), call the Marathon County Historical Society at 715-842-5750. Registration closes at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
