The Wisconsin Woodchucks bats were hot Friday as they defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 9-2 in the first of a two-game series.
The Woodchucks got things going offensively in a big way in the bottom of the 2ndinning with solo home runs from designated hitter Dom Derenzo and third basemen Cooper Swanson to make it 2-0. They then got a huge bases clearing RBI triple from the hot hitting right fielder Reese Alexiades to make it 5-0 after two innings.
The Chucks offensive didn’t stop there and added three runs in the bottom of the 3rdinning from an RBI double from left fielder TJ Raguse and a two run RBI single from catcher Isaac Quinones to make it 8-0 Chucks after three innings.
Chucks starter Orsen Josephina was brilliant on the mound once again going six innings giving up only two runs with six strikeouts.
The Woodchucks bullpen was lights out tonight getting two innings of scoreless pitching from Branson Hall and an inning of scoreless relief from Lenny Gwizdala.
Top Performers
Woodchucks centerfielder Reese Alexiades has been one of the hottest hitters on the team and added to that with 2-5 night with a huge three run RBI double. He has now pushed his average to .352
Chucks designated hitter Dom Derenzo had a big night at the plate getting the scoring going with a solo homer in the 2ndinning. He went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and he scored twice.
The Chucks also got great contributions at the plate from catcher Isaac Quinones who reached base twice and had a two run RBI single in the 3rdinning and centerfielder Zach DeLoach who hit his second home run in two nights. He also reached base twice.
Woodchucks starter Orsen Josephina was light out once again going six innings allowing just two runs and striking out four batters.
