Woodchucks’ offensive surge continues

After falling behind early in the game, The Wisconsin Woodchucks on Sunday came back to crush the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters by a score of 8-4, completing a two-game sweep at home.

The Woodchucks’ offensive dominance began in the second inning, with a grand slam from Peter Ahn.

The Chucks added to their lead with an RBI double from the hot hitting centerfielder Reese Alexiades in the bottom of the 4thto make it 5-2.

The Woodchucks got some key insurance runs in the middle innings of an RBI single in the bottom of the 5thfrom designated hitter Cooper Swanson to make the score 6-2. They also got a Sac Fly RBI from right fielder Zach DeLoach to make it 7-2 in the bottom of the 6th to give the Chucks a 7-2 lead.

The Chucks added one more in the bottom of the 8thoff a RBI walk with Cooper Swanson and held on for the 8-4 victory

The Woodchucks bullpen was tremendous today coming to action early. The combination of Jordan Walden, Frank Frate, Drew Holweger, Joey Hennessey came in to allow no runs in six innings.

Top Performers 

Woodchucks second basemen Peter Ahn had a huge day at the plate with four RBI’s off of his Grand Slam in the bottom of the 2ndinning. He also reached base three times.

Chucks designated hitter Cooper Swanson had a nice day the dish going 1-3 with two RBI’s and reaching base three times.

Woodchucks centerfielder Reese Alexiades continued to come up in the clutch with an RBI double in the bottom of the 4thinning.

Woodchucks reliever Jordan Walden was tremendous out of the bullpen going two innings allowing no runs to score and striking out three.
