WAUSAU — A 16-year-old boy is facing criminal charges in connection with two recent burglaries, according to the Wausau Police Department.

The boy’s name will not be released because he is being charged as a juvenile.

Detectives investigating burglaries at the R-Store on Central Bridge Street and at Tasty Treat on Third Avenue located the teen Friday at a Sherman Road residence. The boy tried to flee but was arrested and transported to juvenile secure detention.

The R-Store was burglarized June 24 and Tasty Treat was burglarized June 27, according to police. The boy was identified through surveillance video. Police say the boy confessed to both burglaries.
