WAUSAU — Aspirus Wausau Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2018. The hospital is one of 203 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

“Aspirus Wausau Hospital is proud to be a leader in the treatment of heart attack patients,” said Darrell Lentz, president of Aspirus Wausau Hospital in an Aspirus news release. “This award recognizes our commitment to the highest patient care standards and the exceptional outcomes we achieve in serving our communities.”

The award also signifies that Aspirus has treated these patients in accordance with clinical guidelines and recommendations outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association.

Recognized organizations adhere to the treatment guidelines established by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association for both complete blockage of a coronary artery and partial blockage heart attack patients.

To receive the award, Aspirus Wausau Hospital demonstrated sustained achievement in the ACTION Registry for eight consecutive quarters and performed at the top level of standards for specific performance measures, according to Aspirus.
