Woodchucks bounce back in win over Rivets

After a tough loss on Thursday, the Woodchucks came back fighting on Friday to split the series with a win over the Rockford Rivets with a final score of 6-2.

The Woodchucks offense struck right away, scoring two runs in the top of the 1^st inning with a sac fly from Jaren Shelby and an RBI single from Reese Alexaides.

The Chucks answered with another run in the top of the 3^rd inning with Jaren Shelby coming home on a wild pitch.

Another three runs came in for the Woodchucks in the top of the 4^th inning with an RBI fielder’s choice from Nick Loftin and an RBI sac fly from Jaren Shelby. This brought the Woodchucks’ lead to 6-0.

The Rivets answered with two runs in the bottom of the 4^th to make it 6-2.

After a two hour rain delay, The game was called due to inclement weather in the bottom of the 7^th inning and the Chucks held on for the 6-2 win.

Top Performers

Starting pitcher Mason Cole pitched a great game, going six innings, striking out two and allowing just two runs.

Chucks Shortstop Nick Loftin had a nice night at the plate with a double and he also added an RBI fielder’s choice.
