WAUSAU – Police in Wausau are searching for the driver who struck a pedestrian Thursday on the city’s west side and fled the scene.

The crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. at First Avenue and Knox Street, police said. The victim who was struck, a 22-year old woman who was jogging at the time of the crash, is suffering from life threatening injuries, according to a news release.

Police are searching for the driver of a small black vehicle, possibly a 2012-2014 Ford Focus. The vehicle has damage to the passenger side headlight and spiderweb cracking of the windshield on the driver’s side.
