STROUD, OK – A man from Merrill died in a traffic crash in Oklahoma this week, according to a WJFW report.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed Brandon Polacek, 20, was killed in a crash between a construction truck and a semi around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday near Stroud, which is between Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Polacek was a passenger in the construction truck, police said. His truck was crossing the eastbound lanes on the Turner Turnpike when the semi crashed into them. Polacek and his driver were both thrown from the truck “an unknown distance”, according to the report.

Polacek was pronounced dead on the scene from what police described as massive injuries.

The construction truck and semi drivers were both taken to the hospital in fair condition. They are from Hinckley, Minnesota and Republic, Missiouri, respectively.

The report says the semi truck driver was wearing a seatbelt, but whether the construction truck had seat belts or if they were worn remains under investigation.

Weather conditions were cloudy and the road was wet.
