MARSHFIELD —  A 52-year-old Marshfield man is in custody after allegedly chasing two social workers with a knife and throwing the weapon at their vehicle.

Patrick Langreck faces preliminary charges of recklessly endangering safety in Wood County Circuit Court. Formal charges are expected to be filed on Monday.

The incident was reported Friday in the 200 block of N. Spruce Street in Marshfield. When officers arrived at the scene, Langreck walked toward police armed with two knives and refused their commands to drop his weapons, according to a news release.

Police used bean bag rounds to defuse the situation and eventually took Langreck into custody. He is being held in the Wood County Jail. Court records show Langreck was convicted Friday of criminal damage to property in a case filed in Wood County in March.
