MARSHFIELD — A Marshfield man is dead after he was struck late Saturday by a train on Central Avenue in Marshfield, according to police.

Police have identified the man as 34-year-old Anthony Carolfi.

The Marshfield Police Department and Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded just before midnight July 28 to a call of pedestrian being struck by a passing train, according to a news release.

Responding officers located Carolfi’s body on the north side of the train tracks. He did not have a pulse and was not breathing, according to police. Efforts to revive him were not successful.

A preliminary investigation indicates Carolfi accidentally stepped in front of the train as it was beginning to pass, according to the release. The lighting for the train arms was activated and functioning. The train horn had been sounded.

“Please keep this man and his family in your prayers,” a Marshfield Police Department Facebook post reads.
