WAUSAU — Free one-hour long education sessions on solar energy and how it works will be offered to residents and business owners in Marathon, Portage, Waupaca and Wood counties as part of the Central Wisconsin Solar Group Purchase Program.

Interested parties will have the opportunity to get discounted pricing for solar electric systems from the program’s partnering contractor.

“We are excited to bring this program to our Wausau community” said Mayor Robert Mielke in a city news release.  “This aligns greatly with the newly formed Sustainability, Energy and Environment Committee, which was created to advise city officials about policies and programs that affect the relationship between the city and the environment.

Visit cwsolar.org for program details and the full Solar Power Hour schedule. Instructors from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and Mid-State Technical College will lead the educational sessions.

Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point are co?sponsors of the Central Wisconsin Solar Group Purchase Program.
