TOWN OF HULL – One person is dead and a second person is critically injured in a crash that happened early Saturday in the town of Hull, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. Saturday on Old Hwy. 18, police said. A preliminary investigation shows the 24-year-old driver was headed west when he missed a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a news release. The driver died at the scene.
A 28-year-old passenger in the vehicle was extricated and transported to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Police say speed appears to have been a factor in th crash, which remains under investigation.
The names of the victims will be released on Monday.
