The state champion Wausau Nationals Little League All-Stars Major team lost the first game Monday in regional play, with a final score of 12-2 in favor of Michigan.

Wausau fell behind early on as Michigan scored on a double and a home run the first inning.

The Wausau National LL All Stars Major struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Michigan, giving up 12 runs.

Michigan scored four runs in the sixth inning.

Lucas Hager led things off on the hill for Wausau National LL All Stars Major. He allowed six hits and seven runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking zero. Aiden Dykstra and Aidan Vachowiak entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and two innings respectively.

Turner Olson and Keagen Jirschele both had hits for Wausau.

The Wausau Nationals are Wisconsin state champs for the second year in a row.

Wausau will take on Kentucky at 6 p.m. Tuesday as the Great Lakes Regional Tournament continues in Westfield, Ind. this week.
