FREEMONT — A 78-year-old man is hospitalized after crashing his motorcycle into a tree, officials said Sunday.

The crash happened at about 2 p.m. in Freemont, when the motorcycle driver appeared to have mechanical issues that stalled the trike-style bike, police said. After starting back up from the stall, the motorcycle quickly accelerated, crossed a street and struck a tree, officials said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to a Neenah hospital. His condition was not immediately available on Sunday.

The crash is under investigation.
