Crazy Horse Memorial

WAUSAU – Learn more about a legendary figure in American history, Crazy Horse, from members of his own family.

This Marathon County Public Library presentation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 22 at 300 N. First St., Wausau.

The Crazy Horse family’s oral history had not been told outside the family for over a century. Now it is finally being told by Floyd Clown, a son of Crazy Horse’s nephew Edward Clown, as well as Floyd Clown’s two sons Doug War Eagle and Red Thunder. Floyd Clown is the keeper of the sacred bundle and pipe for the family after his mother Iron Cedar passed away, according to a MCPL news release.

Author William Matson shaped the family’s history into a 2016 book, “Crazy Horse: The Lakota Warrior’s Life and Legacy,” and he will be joined by Floyd Clown and War Eagle for this presentation. A Q&A and signing will follow the presentation.

This event is free, with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7230 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/5738.
