MOSINEE — No injuries were reported Wednesday in a blaze at a home on Old Hwy. 51 in Mosinee that caused heavy damage to the building, officials say.

The blaze began in the attic of the home, according to fire officials. A passerby called 911 at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and alerted authorities to the blaze. Flames were pouring from the roof by the time crews arrived.

Old Hwy. 51 was shut down for hours while fire crews fought the blaze and ensured the safety of people in the area.

The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
