STEVENS POINT — A forum that will provide small business owners with an opportunity to discuss how environmental regulations impact them, give perspective on proposed rules and help the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources better understand small business issues will be held in early September.

DNR Secretary Dan Meyer will be the featured speaker at the event, to be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Portage County Business Council, 5501 Vern Holmes Drive, Stevens Point.

Registration is free and available online at PortageCountyBiz.com (click on the Events tab in the top right corner).

“Small businesses operate differently than large businesses and often struggle to find answers about DNR permits, or need help figuring out DNR rules and regulations,” said Amy Litscher, Small Business Environmental Council chairperson and president of Saga Environmental & Engineering. “The Council wants to make sure those businesses with fewer than 100 employees are represented in the discussion about environmental policies.

All small businesses are welcome to attend, especially start-ups and expanding businesses. This forum will be especially helpful for those who develop properties, dry clean, electroplate, fabricate, finish, handle grain, manufacture, paint/coat, print, repair vehicles, service or use refrigeration equipment, work with wood, or operate a boiler.
