TOWN OF STELLA — Police have identified the victims of an ATV crash that left one man dead and another man injured.
The operator of the ATV has been identified as Piotr Tomaszewski, 50, Illinois. The passenger has been identified as Maciej Turek, 56, of Illinois. The crash happened Saturday east of Rhinelander, according to Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call just after 5 p.m. Saturday alerting them to the crash on Spring Drive, police said. Police say Tomaszewski, who veered off the roadway and struck a tree, died at the scene.
Turek was transported by ambulance to Ascension Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. The extent of his injuries has not been specified.
The events leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
