WAUSAU – Do you think video games are a waste of time? You might rethink that opinion after hearing the research of a professor who has studied the subject.

The Marathon County Public Library will offer a presentation on “The Surprising Benefits of Playing Video Games” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 18  at the library’s Wausau headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.

C. Shawn Green, professor of psychology at UW-Madison, will share his research on the positive effects playing video games has on a person’s cognitive abilities and development, including games that help people learn and stimulate perception. Green will also address some of the hazards of video games and video game addiction, and answer audience questions after the presentation.

This event is free, with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7230 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/5164.
