Mary Ann Wimmer
Mary Ann Wimmer, 95, died Tuesday, Sept, 4, 2018, at Benedictine Living Community, Wausau.
She was born July 7, 1923, in Merrill, daughter of the late Henry and Anna Alvina (Kniess) Heinz. She married Wesley Barttelt who died in World War II. She married Elmer Wimmer Sr. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1999.
Mary Ann enjoyed crafting, making Christmas ornaments, family time up at the campground and trips to the casino. She also loved to meet with friends for morning coffee in Brokaw.
Survivors include her three daughters, JoAnn (Tony Podhora) Sowinski, Wausau, Rose (Steve) Miller, Wausau, and Barbara (Kenneth) Zunker, Wausau; five sons, Gene (Sue) Wimmer, Adrian, Michigan, Elmer Jr. (Judy) Wimmer, Rib Mountain, Keith (Cindy) Wimmer, Birnamwood, David Wimmer, Brokaw and Patrick (Sharon) Wimmer, Brokaw; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; siblings, Dale and Milton Heinz, Joyce Goetch, Sandra Ryan and Annette Lach.
Besides her parents and husbands, Wesley and Elmer Sr., she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chet Sowinski, grandson, Bobby Sowinski, and brothers, Roger, Henry Jr. and Donald Heinz.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, at a later date.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Benedictine Living Community for the kind, compassionate care given to Mary Ann during her time there.

Randal Landwehr
Randal W. Landwehr, 62, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, in Rothschild, Wisconsin, while acting as a Good Samaritan.
Randy was born Feb. 2, 1956, in Wausau, Wisconsin, in the back seat of a Ford, the second of seven children. He graduated from Marathon High School in 1974. He and Sally married, beginning their life together in a home they built on the family homestead.
Randy had a smile for everyone. As an over-the-road driver for over 35 years, his friendships spanned from coast to coast. He was also the proud owner of a tarp repair business, boasting frequently of his ability to “mend-straight.” He had a heart of gold, and never hesitated to lend a hand, or an ear, to someone who needed him. He was truly the best of men.
Randy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Whether it was “Upa North” in St. Germain, vacationing with close friends Kenny and Kathy, hunting with the boys in Tripoli or Wyoming, or catching up with everyone he knew at the Marathon Fun Days, you could count on him to mention: retirement with Grandma, the countdown to retirement, his beautiful new camper and flip flops, pop tops, white sand beaches and palm trees.
The loss of Randy leaves a gaping hole in the lives of those who love him. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Sally (Vondrasek) Landwehr. He is further survived by his father, Roger (Juanita) Landwehr of Marathon; four brothers Greg (Joan) Landwehr, Marathon; Lorell (Julie) Landwehr, Marathon; Ken Landwehr, Marathon; and Rick Landwehr, Marathon; two sisters, Louann (Mark) Witucki, Marathon; and Lori (Allan) Stieber, Yuma, Arizona. Randy also has three children; Kim Tallitsch (Keith Vardon), Kurt (Mandy) Landwehr, and Ryan (Kim) Landwehr. Thirteen grandkids called him grandpa, not including all of Sally’s daycare families to be touched by his life over the years.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Marjorie Landwehr, and by father and mother-in-law, Rudy and Alida Vondrasek.
The family wishes to thank everyone in the community for the outpouring of love and support, including B&K Trucking and first responders and officers of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau, Wisconsin, and again from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, until the time of services at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 600 Stevens Drive, Wausau, Wisconsin. A luncheon at the church will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for future donation to a charity of their choice.
John Philipp
John M. Philipp, 81, of Wittenberg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at his home.
He was born on Dece. 6, 1936, in Wausau, the son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna (Lewandowski) Philipp.
On April 25, 1959, John was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Carlson in Shawano. She survives.
John was employed at F.W.D./Seagrave, Clintonville, until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of PACE International Union and Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. John and Sharon were foster parents for Lutheran Social Services for some time. John enjoyed restoring collector vehicles and going to classic car and truck shows, in which he had won many trophies with his 1946 and 1969 Chevy trucks he restored. John also loved camping, country music, gardening, the Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Philipp of Wittenberg; three sons, Gregory Philipp of Eland, Jeffrey (Sharla) Philipp and Steven Philipp all of Wittenberg; six grandchildren, Jonathon Philipp, Lisa (Josh) Mulder, Carrie (Jay) Meydam, Nicole Philipp, Amber (Jordan) Hull and Hailey (fiancé, Shannon) Philipp; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Josiah and Samuel Mulder, Aiden and Issac Meydam, Maddelyn and Levi Hull; siblings, Barbara (Ray) Pozorski of Schofield, Rosemary (sp. Friend, Edward Curran) Fierek of Shawano, Ann (Gus) Weller of Wittenberg, Lucille Hinkfuss of Neenah, Jean Osflag of St. Cloud, MN, Janice (Milton) Marquardt of Shawano, JoAnn (Albert) Winkler of Gillett and Michael (Joyce) Philipp of Shawano; five brothers-in-law, Melvin (Janet) Carlson of Marshfield, Douglas Carlson of Birnamwood, Randy (special friend, Joanne) Carlson of Tomah, Rick (Laura) Carlson of Wittenberg and Ronnie (special friend, Vicki) Carlson of Birnamwood; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Hubert) Stankowski and Tina Carlson both of Wausau and many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Carol Gee, Mary Staszak, Michelle Ebel and Alice Herrmann, one sister-in-law, Christine Carlson and father and mother-in-law, Art and Merna (Kaufman) Carlson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Amy Perron will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
