Wausau’s “Live it Up” home ownership program is a finalist for a public private partnership economic development award, according to a city news release issued Friday.

The award, from the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) recognizes businesses, projects and organizations that are making a significant contribution to the state’s economy.

The City partnered with the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and more than 40 local businesses to provide home purchase down payment assistance loans to local employees.

“This is positive news and shows the hard work our Planning & Development Department staff are doing to further increase home affordability and meet the housing needs of our residents,” said Mayor Rob Mielke, in the release.

More about this program can be found on the City’s Wausau Development link.

Winners of this award will be recognized at a ceremony on September 12, 2018 in Madison.
