Born and raised in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Berens studied journalism at UW-Madison. He covered the presidential election for MTV and has hosted, written and produced several comedy news programs, sketch comedy bits and entertainment shows. His “Co-Anchor Confidential” pitch was selected at the Just For Laughs Festival and sold to LOL, a network partnership between comedian Kevin Hart and Lionsgate, according to a UWSP news release.

Berens turned his experiences in comedy and journalism into the “Manitowoc Minute” video series, in which he plays a character with an over-the-top Wisconsin accent.
