TOWN OF BRADLEY — Two motorcycle drivers and two passengers were injured Friday in a crash north of Tomahawk, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
At 7:33 p.m. a Mercury Sable driven by an 81-year-old Tomahawk woman was traveling south when she swerved to avoid a pickup truck that had stopped to turn onto Home Town Drive, according to police. When the woman swerved she entered the northbound lane of traffic and struck two northbound motorcycles.
The two motorcycle drivers and their two passengers all suffered critical injuries. Three were transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital where they were flown to Aspirus Hospital and the Marshfield Medical Center. The fourth person was transported directly from the scene to the trauma center at Aspirus.
A 49-year-old man from Clyman, Wis. was critically injured, police said. Also injured were a 54-yyear old woman, a 49-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, all from Fort Atkinson. Three of the four victims were transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, while the fourth victim was flown to Marshfield Medical Center.
The driver of the car was not injured.
None of the motorcycle occupants were wearing helmets, police said..
No names were immediately released. This is one of several crashes this weekend as Tomahawk holds its annual Fall Ride celebration, which raises funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. More than 40,000 motorcycle enthusiasts and others attend the event each September.
