WAUSAU — An early morning rollover crash on Wausau’s northwest side left three juveniles injured, one of them seriously, police said.

Wausau Police Chief Ben Bliven said the single vehicle rollover crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. on North Fourth Avenue near Campus Drive. The vehicle had three occupants and all of them were transported to the hospital, Bliven said.

One of the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle and is seriously injured, Bliven said.

According to Wausau Police Lt. Dwayne Dachel, a dog in the vehicle was turned over to the owner and transported to an emergency veterinarian.

Because all passengers in the vehicle are juveniles, no names will be released. Police did not say if seatbelts were used or what factors might have played a role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol crash reconstruction unit and the Wausau Police Department.
