RIB MOUNTAIN — At last! Green space for man’s best friend.

The town of Rib Mountain will host an opening ceremony for its long-awaited dog park at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the corner of Oriole Lane and Highway R/Hummingbird Road (across the street from CoVantage Credit Union). The public in invited.

The nearly 4-acre dog park has been in the works for the last couple of years, according to the town of Rib Mountain. It will be open to everyone, including visitors to the community.

The fenced-in park features a crushed gravel walking path, benches and water facilities. The park is accessible via the Highway R trail and also has a parking lot on site.

Rib Mountain has received over $110,000 in donations and grant funds for the project, including funding from the Richard Austin Trust, Marathon County Environmental Impact Fund, the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and several individual and business donors, according to a Rib Mountain news release.
