A heavy police presence on Wausau’s far west side shut down traffic briefly on Thursday as officers and SWAT team members searched a home.

Witnesses tell Wausau Pilot and Review they saw K9 officers and armored vehicles surrounding the home, in the 3500 block of West Sherman Street.

Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks said his department aided the Wausau Police Department in executing a search warrant. Police have not said what prompted the search.

Chief Deputy Chad Billeb said the person police were searching for at the home has not been located.

No other details have yet been made public.
