AMHERST JUNCTION, Wis.  — One person has died and another person is injured following a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday afternoon in Portage County.

The crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. on Hwy. 10 at CTH B near Amherst Junction, according to a Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation news release.

Police say an 82-year-old woman driving a 2007 Lincoln Town Car failed to stop at a stop sign at the end of a Hwy. 10 exit ramp. The vehicle traveled across both lanes of CTH B, entered the northbound ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, whose name was not released, died at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, an 81-year-old man, was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life threatening, police said.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Department, Stevens Point Fire Department and Amherst Fire District all responded to the crash.

Names of both victims are being withheld pending family notification.
