WAUSAU — Free one-hour long education sessions on solar energy and how it works will be offered to residents and business owners in Marathon, Portage, Waupaca and Wood counties as part of the Central Wisconsin Solar Group Purchase Program.

Interested parties will have the opportunity to get discounted pricing for solar electric systems from the program’s partnering contractor.

Wausau Mayor Robert Mielke had said in July that the city is excited to bring the program to the area.

“This aligns greatly with the newly formed Sustainability, Energy and Environment Committee, which was created to advise city officials about policies and programs that affect the relationship between the city and the environment,” Mielke had said.

Visit cwsolar.org for program details and the full Solar Power Hour schedule. Instructors from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and Mid-State Technical College will lead the educational sessions.
