MERRILL — Church Mutual Insurance Co. raised $154,507 for Merrill Area United Way in September during its annual fundraising event, raising its total contributions to the agency to more than $1.4 million since 2000. Employees raised $77,253.50 in 2018, and the company matched it dollar for dollar.

“Every year I’m amazed at the level of commitment Church Mutual Insurance Co. and all of its employees have toward helping the Merrill community and the people who live here,” said Dee Olsen, executive director of the Merrill Area United Way, in a Church Mutual news release. “Once again, the CMIC United Way campaign has exceeded their 2018 goal.”

Employees, along with President and CEO Rich Poirier, are motivated to continue to support United Way. Each year, they continue to increase their goal and employee participation through pledges, events and activities held at Church Mutual. This year was no exception. The monetary goal was to raise at least $75,777 with 612 employees participating. Both goals were exceeded.

“This company and its employees, with more than 80 percent participation, are the foundation of the annual campaign and are vital to the success of our local United Way,” Olsen said. “We are very grateful for the partnership we have with this company.”
