ROTHSCHILD — A locally-owned Rothschild restaurant closed its doors this week after eight years in business.

Lammar’s Smokehouse BBQ, which relocated in May 2017 to 1027 E. Grand Ave., announced the closure Wednesday on the restaurant’s Facebook page and a sign reading “closed permanently” is on the door of the restaurant.

“It is with heavy hearts we are announcing that Lammar’s Smokehouse BBQ is officially closed as of tomorrow, October 4th,” the post reads. “Due to some unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we have decided that now is the time to end our journey in the restaurant [business].”

Lammar’s operated in Marshfield for about six years before shifting operations to Rothschild, sharing a building with a coffee shop in a building that for many years housed a Hardee’s restaurant.

“We thank you all for your patronage,” Mark and Tammy Lammar wrote. ” It has been a great 8 years. We have learned so much and appreciate everyone who made these years so fun. It is a tough business, and with times as they are, we need to make the tough decisions. We thank you for the great ride!!”
